What is frost bolete?

Frost bolete, also known as Boletus pulcherrimus, is a species of mushroom found in North America. It is commonly found in coniferous forests, especially in areas with cool and moist climates. The cap of the frost bolete is large and can reach up to 20 cm in diameter, with a convex to flat shape and a velvety texture on the surface. The color of the cap ranges from light to dark brown. The stem is usually thick and sturdy, with a reddish-brown color and a rough texture. The spore print is olive-brown. Frost bolete is considered edible and is prized for its flavor, but caution should be taken when collecting and consuming wild mushrooms.
